    • The Director-Surgical Services, under the direction of Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, plans, implements and evaluates patient care in the Operating Room (OR) and Day Surgery Center (DSC), Anesthesia, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Endo. Develop and achieve departmental goals that are consistent with Hospital goals. Balance the use of resources with productivity standards. Assist with the overall leadership of the Surgical Services Department.
    • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Must be enrolled in a Master's Degree program upon hire and complete program within four (4) years of placement into the Director-Surgical Services position.
    • Experience: Four (4) years supervisory/management experience (may include charge, AHN, HN, Administrative Supervisor, Nurse Manager, etc.) in an Operating Room at an acute care facility.
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current license in Minnesota to practice as registered nurse.
    • Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related.

    • Skilled in interpersonal communications and dynamics. Ability to plan, organize and evaluate work activities. Exercise good judgement in problem solving; manage conflict, advanced knowledge of principles of supervision and nursing practices. Knowledge of cost control; ability to network with all available community resources.


    • READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
    • WRITING - Advanced: Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
    • SPEAKING - Advanced: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, top management, public groups, clients, customers, and the general public.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Advanced: Ability to comprehend and apply advanced mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.
    • REASONING ABILITY - Advanced Skills: Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
      • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients. Lifts supplies/equipment. Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
