Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The Quality Improvement (QI)/Risk Management (RM) Specialist, under the direction of the Director of Quality Management (QM), is responsible for managing quality improvement, risk management and patient advocacy activities.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management (HIM), Health Care Management (HCM), nursing, legal studies or related degree, or law degree.
    • Experience: One (1) year of recent relevant experience.
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: Masters Degree preferred.
    • Experience: Recent health care experience to include Quality Improvement (QI), Risk Management (RM) and/or patient advocacy responsibilities.
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM). Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Nurse.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel and Access software applications. Knowledge of health care quality improvement principles, methods, tools and techniques. Knowledge of health care risk management principles and methods. Ability to interpret applicable standards, regulations and laws. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups, both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively manage projects, meeting established timeframes. Effective interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.

      READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    • WRITING - Advanced: Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
    • SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • REASONING ABILITY - Advanced Skills: Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
