General Summary:

Responsible for rendering technical skilled care to patients during operative procedures; preparing for surgical procedures; cleaning and efficient turn over rooms for surgery; assuming responsibility of Instrument Processing Technician as needed; performing other related duties as assigned.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate from an accredited school of Surgical Technology; previous operating room experience desirable; preferred Certification in Surgical Technology.

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of supplies, instruments and equipment used in ambulatory surgery setting, instrument cleaning and sterilization, Universal Precautions, generally accepted safety practices and quality control.  Knowledge of basic mathematical computation.  Ability to work harmoniously with professional and technical staff and physicians.  Ability to communicate verbally and listen to the needs of the patient and the directions of the Surgeon and professional staff within the operating room.  Ability to plan, organize and remain attentive throughout surgical procedures.  Ability to work under stress/pressure, to maintaining accurate records and reports and to participate in orientation of new personnel and teaching of students.  Ability to assemble and disassemble equipment and some instrumentation.  Ability to write legibly, see, hear, stand, sit, walk, bend, speak English and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
